Zoya Akhtar was Born on 14 October, 1972 to Javed Akhtar. She is an Indian film director and screenwriter. She completed her diploma in filmmaking from NYU and assisted directors such as Mira Nair, Tony Gerber and Dev Benegal, before turning writer-director in her own right.

Zoya started started her career working as a casting director for films including Dil Chahta Hai. Soon she worked as an executive producer for Reema Kagti's Honeymoon Travels Pvt. Ltd.

She has directed many movies such as Luck by Chance, Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara and Sheila Ki Jawani, a segment of Bombay Talkies and Dil Dhadakne Do.

Growing up in an agnostic environment led to not believing in any religion.

Recently she has been working on a story for Amazon Prime web series titled Made in Heaven. The web series will be produced by Excel Entertainment.
