Amitabh Bacchan, popularly known as the Big-B of the bollywood industry was born to the greatest poet of his times Sir Harivansh Rai Bachchan and Ma'am Teji Bachchan. Amitabh completed his education from Uttar Pradesh and then started finding work as a movie actor.
He was rejected from door to door as the film-makers preferred to work someone fairer, and because of his 6'3" height. Despite of having a deep baritone voice, he was rejected for All India Radio in the first audition itself.

As he was steadily climbing the ladder of success, Amitabh had a near death experience in the year 1982 in the sets of Coolie. According to a scene Amitabh and Puneet Issar had an intense fighting act according to which Big-B was supposed to land on a table instead he misjudged the jump and landed in a fatal manner and badly hurt himself. He was taken to hospital and had multiple surgeries. Amitabh even revealed that he had been declared clinically dead for a few minuted and was put on a ventilator.
To survive the blood loss, he was infused with the blood of about 200 donors from all over the globe and 60 bottles were injected into his system.
In the year 2000, Amitabh was detected with liver cirrhosis, which was caused due to the injection of blood of a patient suffering from Hepatitis B. By then, he had already infected 75% of his liver and was alive on only 25% left.

During his recovery from diseases, Amitabh suffered major downfall in his career. He had no movies, no income and a debt of 90 crores over his head. Investors would threaten him and his families with abusive language for money. The Canara Bank even sued him for outstanding loans as his credit rating had deteriorated.
As a ray of hope, he found his hands in television industry as the host of Kaun Banega Crorepati? His family weren't supportive about his decision but this opportunity was a complete turnover in his life and brought him his popularity and pride back. Eventually he paid all his debts and paved his way back to the bollywood industry.

His movies Mohabbatein (2000), Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham... (2001) and Baghban (2003) and Khakee (2004) were all superhits.
As parents Amitabh and Jaya were interested in getting Abhishek married to Karishma, the daughter of Babita and Randhir Kapoor but later the ceremony was broke off and he was married to Miss World and Bollywood actress, Aishwarya Rai at the Bachchan residence on April 20, 2007.
